Sixteenmo (4 3/8 x 2 3/4 inches; 110 x 70 mm.). [4], xix, [1, blank], [1]-624 pp. With books original orange printed wrapper bound in. Text in French.

In an exquisite nineteenth-century French hand-embroidered binding of white satin over boards. Covers and spine elaborately embroidered with flowers and leaves, all outlined in gilt and red thread, and filled in in pastel shades of pink, blue, green, yellow and orange. Boards embellished with small metal decorative rivets. All edges gilt and gauffered. Cream watered silk endpapers. Text with some minor foxing to preliminaries. Overall a near fine copy and a wonderful example. Housed in a marbled paper clamshell.
