Boston: Museum of Fine Arts. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. This specific hardback book is in near fine condition with minimal wear and a hard board cover that has sharp edges and corners and a tight binding with a slight bit of foxing to the spine. The pages are clean, crisp, unmarked and uncreased but for the name of the previous owner on the first blank end page. The hard board slip case is in very good condition with a bit of cover or edge wear. We package all books in custom cardboard book boxes for shipment and ship daily with tracking numbers.; "This book is in the original beige linen binding with red leather spine label with gilt lettering in green paper covered board slipcase with printed paper label at spine. Volume 1 features 163 plates with descriptions of the items; many tipped in colour plates as well as black and white illustrations. Charles Bain Hoyt (1889-1949) was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was the son of Col. James J. Hoyt, a Union Army officer of the Civil War and descendant of the theologian Jonathan Edwards. Hoyt traveled extensively in many parts of the world, particularly in the Orient. He devoted himself to collecting Chinese pottery and porcelain pieces, mostly of the T'ang and Sung dynasties. The Hoyt collection, most of which is housed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, includes Chinese and Korean ceramics, Chinese sculpture and bronzes and metal objects, paintings and prints, and other items. A very valuable reference on Chinese art and antiquities."; 8.5" x 12" x 1.4"; 260 pages .
