Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1971. First edition. Hardcover. A near fine copy in a very good plus dust jacket. This copy has a long inscription by the author and is dated in January of 1981. Charles Demuth was a member of art gallery owner Alfred Stieglitz' Group of Five, and is credited with helping to bring Cubist theory to America and is a recognized ancestor of Pop Art. A charming, aristocratic hedonist, a smiling, witty man noted for his sartorial perfection, Demuth had close friendships with such other gifted individuals as William Carlos Williams, Wallace Stevens, Eugene O'Neill, Marcel Duchamp, Georgia O'Keefe, and Marsden Hartley.
