Charles Bishop Kuralt (1934 â€" 1997) was an American journalist He is best known for his long career with CBS, first for his "On the Road" segments on the CBS Evening News, and later as the first anchor of CBS Sunday Morning, a position he held for fifteen years

His "On the Road" segments were recognized twice with Peabody Awards, citing his segments as heartwarming and "nostalgic vignettes"; in 1975, for his work as a US "bicentennial historian"; his work "capture[d] the individuality of the people, the dynamic growth inherent in the area, and the rich heritage of this great nation"

This copy is a 10th printing, and ex-lib, with a small llbrary label and stamp on the title page, a "Withdrawn" stamp on the half-title and the FFEP removed It is inscribed by the author on the half-title "To my Friend Craig, If the truth be told my best years were spent on the road Charlie"
