Alfred A. Knopf Inc., 1972. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG-/VG. SCHINDELMAN, Joseph. Stated First Edition. 15.8 x 24 cm blue cloth backed paper boards with blue stamped vignette to the front, pink stamped titles to the spine and borzoi device blind stamped to the rear. Grey endpapers, pp (xii) 161(3) with black and white illustrations by Joseph Schindelman and original unclipped dust jacket priced at $3.95. The boards have a hint of bruising to the corners on the front and a slight crease on the rear board due to a manufacturing fault where the paper overlays the cloth of the spine. There is also a small ding on the bottom edge of the rear board. The jacket is now preserved in a clear removable jacket. It is slightly toned along the top edge and sunned on the spine and a little rubbed on the spine tips and corners with minor loss to the head of the spine and the corners there is a corner crease on the front flap. It is the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, continuing the story of young Charlie Bucket and eccentric candymaker Willy Wonka as they travel in the Great Glass Elevator. Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator was first published in the United States by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. in 1972, and in the UK by George Allen & Unwin in 1973.
