Q2 - A first edition (First printing, April 1988 stated with complete numberline) hardcover book SIGNED by Nelson DeMille (first name only) and inscribed to Carolyn & Otto (Otto Penzler) on the second half-title page (page before PART 1) in very good condition in very good dust jacket that is mylar protected. Dust jacket has some wrinkling, chipping, and crease on the edges, corners, some scattered light scratches, rubbing and scuffing, light tanning and shelf wear. Book has some bumped corners, some wrinkling on the spine edges, light discoloration and shelf wear. Although not marked in any way, this copy comes from the personal collection of Otto Penzler, legendary editor and founder of the Mysterious Press, an award-winning icon in the genre. 9.5"x6.5", 533 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Nelson DeMille (Nelson Richard DeMille) is an American author of action adventure and suspense novels. His novels include Plum Island, The Charm School, and The Gold Coast. DeMille has also written under the pen names Jack Cannon, Kurt Ladner, Ellen Kay and Brad Matthews. DeMille was born in New York City on August 23, 1943. He moved as a child with his family to Long Island. He attended Elmont Memorial High School where he played football and ran track. After spending three years at Hofstra University, he joined the Army and attended Officer Candidate School. He was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army (1966-69) and saw action as an infantry platoon leader with the First Cavalry Division in Vietnam. He was decorated with the Air Medal, Bronze Star, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge. DeMille returned to the States and went back to Hofstra University, where he received his degree in political science and history. He has three children, Lauren, Alexander, and James. He resides in Garden City, New York. DeMille's earlier books were NYPD detective novels. His first major novel was By the Rivers of Babylon, published in 1978 and still in print, as are all his succeeding novels. He is a member of American Mensa, the Authors Guild, and past president of the Mystery Writers of America. He is also a member of the International Thriller Writers, who honored him as 2015 ThrillerMaster of the Year. DeMille holds three honorary doctorates: Doctor of Humane Letters from Hofstra University, Doctor of Literature from Long Island University, and Doctor of Humane Letters from Dowling College. DeMille is the author of By the Rivers of Babylon, Cathedral, The Talbot Odyssey, Word of Honor, The Charm School, The Gold Coast, The General's Daughter, Spencerville, Plum Island, The Lion's Game, Up Country, Night Fall, Wild Fire, The Gate House, The Lion, The Panther, The Quest, Radiant Angel, and The Cuban Affair. He also co-authored Mayday with Thomas Block and The Deserter with his son, Alex DeMille, and has contributed short stories, book reviews, and articles to magazines and newspapers both online and in print. . Synopsis

The Charm School is a 1988 thriller novel by Nelson DeMille. The title refers to a Soviet training facility where Russian spies are trained to infiltrate American society, and the book deals with the U.S. response to this school. According to DeMille's August 2009 newsletter, the novel will be rewritten for the screen by Frank Pearson. The motion picture will be directed by Ericson Core.
