New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1980. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. First edition. Rear board a little bent, and corners of two leaves creased, else near fine in fine dustwrapper. Copy number 43 of 100 numbered copies Signed by the poet. Inscribed by Meredith to his colleague Robert F. Goheen, President of Princeton University between 1957-1972, where Meredith held teaching positions on several occasions: "For Bob & Margaret, with old affection, Bill. Delhi. October 1980." At 37, Goheen was the youngest President of the University since the Revolutionary War, encouraged the applications of minority students, and presided over making the school co-educational. By 1980, he was U.S. Ambassador to India, where he was born to Protestant missionaries.
