VERY GOOD COLLECTIBLE hardcover in "Very Good minus" dust jacket. Black, white and brown dust jacket has surface/shelf wear and small chips to crown with larger chips to foot of spine, also large closed tear along front flap seam - jacket now protected by clear archival cover that contains and conceals the fault. Beige hardcover with dark gray top stain. Brown, black, and white wrappers with small black illustration gifted to the Dwight Mission Cherokee School by Artist Willard Scott. Handsome book is bright, tightly bound, square, all interior pages and 36 b&w photographs clean and unmarked, a few tiny pin-sized spots confined to the top third of fore-edge on spine side. Remarkable and true historical tale of Christian missionaries who entered Oklahoma territory and met, endured, and shared the same hardships as the Cherokee tribes, while advancing Christian ideals and higher education. VERY GOOD COLLECTIBLE." SIGNED/INSCRIBED" scarce, out-of-print First Edition.
