Hardcover. The Religious Tract Society, London, nd c 1880s. ?1st edn. 8vo. Approx.19 x13cm. Pictorial Red Cloth, etched in black on the front board and spine. Title in Red on a gold blocked base. 276pp, map, many b/w illus. First hand study by Missionary/Headteacher on the life of children in Madagascar, with chapters on babyhood, food, clothing, ornaments, games, home life, Malagasy Superstitions, Malagasy Fairy Tales etc. Spine slightly dulled, and head and tail of spine 'knocked', a one and a half cm stain on the back board, but boards in good plus condition overall. Internally foxing scattered here and there throughout, and tear with loss to the blank bottom corner of pp31/2. Overall a Good sound, tight copy; 49120 .
