First edition/First impression. Size is quarto (4vo), 10.25"/26cm h. Bound in publisher's dark gray cloth, gilt lettering to spine, with title set against light blue field framed in gilt. Glossy color photographic dj. Endpapers with b&w line maps of Georgia, front the northern part, rear the southern part, cartography by Rich Everhart. [i-x], xi-xxv, [xxvi] prelim material, [1-7], 8-1845, [1846] blank. Editor's preface, note on the letters, principal characters, prologue. Three books (pre-war, war, post-war); epilogue, "Who's Who" [dictionary-style entries], index. Condition notes: An excellent condition first edition, with unclipped dust jacket (bearing the $19.95 retail price as well as the $14.95 "before publication" price); jacket shows moderate wear with several small closed tears and chips. Excellent color retention to handsome boards; binding sound and square, light occasional oiling to edges. Half-title page bears blind stamp of Wisconsin author Errol Roy Kindschy, else appears unmarked - though it is not uncommon for blind stamps to be scattered through text. Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
