L. C. Page & Company. Very Good with No dust jacket as issued. 1906. First Edition. Hardcover. 2 volumes, no jackets presumed as issued, and 1905 on copyright, 1906 on title page, presumed first edition or early edition. Denby was the longest-running Minister to China for the US, and was a U.S. union office in the Civil War. Red cloth, gilt titles and dragon design on front and spines, gilt top page edges. Both volumes with slight lean, light bumps, toned spines, a few small stains and some loss to spines, foxing, cracked hinges but overall fairly sturdy. Scarce. ; B&W Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
