London: George Allen & Unwin, 1985. Hardcover. VERY GOOD PLUS in Good Plus Dustjacket. Front corners lightly nudged. Very slight curve to boards. Dustjacket good plus. Moderately scuffed jacket. Front bottom edge looks a bit nibbled on. Gilt lettering debossed on spine of black, cloth-covered boards. Black and white illustrations and figures. Clean, tight, bright. 169 pp with appendices. A book on the Chinese art of tea, which unlike its Japanese counterpart is informal and wholly unrestricted by fixed rules. This books intention is to give impressions of a beauty now departed and to provide practical instructions for the purchasing and enjoyment of fine teas. Contents on kinds of green, semi-fermented and black teas ; tea and the Tao ; tea and health ; poems and songs of tea ; and a manual for practising the tea art.
