About This Item
Secker & Warburg, London 1979 1st UK. edn. 4to. pp255. Orig. blue cloth blind stamp of Chinese symbol to front board. Nr.F with v. slight fading to topmost upper edge, in poor d/w with small closed, wrinkled tear to front panel and slight wear to top of spine & top corners. Spotting to pp adjacent to coloured eps. " Mr. Miller's text accompanying his wife's brilliant and telling photographs. Their trip coincided with the most dramatic moments of China's political and social upheavals after the death of Mao and the fall of Jiang Qing (the official New China News Agency transliteration is used throughout this book) and the Gang of Four. Inge Morath's glorious photographs take us far from the beaten track. Arthur Miller has brought an equally sharp and perceptive eye to a full-scale text that complements and enlarges upon the photographs."
