First edition, 4to, pp. xvii, [3], 324; text in double column with Chinese, pinyin, and English definitions; teal and black cloth boards; boards a little bowed, small stamp on lower edge, near fine. Xiehouyu are similes in which the first half is spoken and the second is left unsaid. An English equivalent might be, "Where there's smoke (There's fire)"
