Quoting from the rear panel blurb " ... Now that the old antithesis between "mediaeval" and Renaissance" is becoming blurred, it may be more easily perceived from the literature of the early Tudors how classical, mediaeval and humanist influence work together in the experimental climate of the time. The author has set himself to examine various aspects of a period when relations between history, particularly social history, and literature were exceptionally close, for many members of the literary "chorus" were themselves men who played significant roles in public affairs and in the several movements towards reappraisal and reform in England and Scotland." Rubbing of the book edges and panels and there is a small tear to the top left hand corner of the back strip and a smaller tear to the lower left hand corner of the same area. Some sunning to the back strip with very light age toning of the text block edges. A small marks to the lower edge of the front text edge. First softcover edition. Size: Trade Paperback.
