About This Item
Chicago Illinois: Goodspeed Brothers, 1886. Early days in Christian County, MO, are recalled in this 11" x 8.5" spiral-bound booklet, comprised of excerpts from Goodspeed Brothers: A Reminiscent History of The Ozark Region (1886), Missouri, A Guide to the "Show Me" State, a 1941 WPA publication, The State of Missouri, an Autobiography (a publication written for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition), and other sources. The 66-page booklet is printed on 60# paper. A vinyl sheet has been added to protect the front cover. The first part of the booklet contains a history of the Ozark area, especially as it relates to Missouri, two brief histories of the county, and bios of leading citizens. The WPA section has a section on Ozark folklore and tour stops at Billings, Ozark and Sequiota State Park. The Louisiana Purchase Exposition book takes a 1904 look at this county.
