Very very rare and hard-to-find vintage mid 19th century periodical! White wrapper with black and white illustration and lettering. Pages number 290-317 and are very historical and informative. A new volume, under new auspices, commencing in May, 1849. The attention of Families, and of the Literary and Religious Public, is respectfully invited to the peculiar character and aims of the CHRISTIAN PARLOR MAGAZINE. Impressed with the dissipating and hurtful tendencies of much of the periodical literature of the day, which, for want of something better, finds its way into the circle of cultivated moral and religious families, the influence of which every right-minded parent must deplore, the Conductor of the CHRISTIAN PARLOR MAGAZINE proposes to furnish a monthly periodical which shall possess all the popular and attractive qualities of the highest style of literature, and at the same time infuse an element of moral and Christian truth............"
