New York: Cupples & Leon, 1930. Thirteen-year-old girl, orphaned, must go live with two uncles & a cousin: Lessons are learned. Lawrence was a prolific writer, mostly of children's books, many for the Stratemeyer Syndicate; she wrote well-received but now mostly forgotten novels for adults later in her career. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured. First or early printing, with titles listed inside the jacket and in publisher's ads published up to 1929. This and most other Cupples & Leon titles were frequently reprinted with no mention of printing or change in the copyright date, but sometimes with updated jacket art or fewer plates. Book shows light wear but internal foxing, page edges foxed; jacket rubbed & worn with some chipping & fading, ink VII on free endsheet. [10], 296 pages + 14 pages publisher's ads; 4 b/w plates as called for. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. Illus. by Thelma Gooch. Small Octavo.
