London : Charles Griffin & Co, c.1860 New edition. Preface dated 1854, though this is probably a few years later. Hardcover book . Attractive pictorial royal blue cloth with gilt titles to spine, and gilt title to front with gilt motifs in circle around it, as well as blind stamped decorations to front and back boards. 454pp & 56pp, octavo. Yellow endpapers. With small b&w engraved figures in text. Ex-Library of the Institution of Civil Engineers (nice engraved blue label to front pastedown, and circular stamp to title page). Clean covers with bumped & rubbed corners and spine ends, gilt to front bright, that to spine dulled. Pages clean but with tanning to some sections (variable paper?), top closed edges darkened. Pictures available.
