Front pastedown has a tear and a previous owner's bookplate. The rear hinge and endsheet are both partially split. Top edge has faint stains from moisture.

Burton came to the US in 1860, spending about 100 days in the west, and published this book in England in 1861. Blue cloth boards with red design and gold titles. Part of the red top edges have light speckling. Dust jacket, with $8.50 price intact on flap, is sun darkened on spine and at top of rear panel. A 1/4" tear at top of spine.
