Illustrated dustwrapper, by E. Critchly, with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Doctor Patrick Cory (main character of Donovan's Brain) is asked by the CIA to remove the RNA (where memory is stored) from a dying German scientist who has defected from the Russians, and, then injecting the RNA into another man  in hopes of releasing the scientist's memory, and thus, secrets. "The experiment succeeds  but to an extent which neither Cory nor Slaughter (CIA man) could anticipate." -- from front court over panel blurb. Softening to the backstrip with rubbing to the book corners. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. Scattered faint foxing to the endpapers and previous owner's name to the free front endpaper. The front edge of page 123 / 124 has become creased and there is a small, 0.25 ", tear, 2 inches from the lower edge. Chipping to the back strip edges with creasing of the dustwrapper edges. There is a piece missing to the top right hand corner of the front panel, measuring 2" x 1.5 "  please see photograph. Heavy rubbing and staining of the dustwrapper with fading of the back strip. Remains of the sticker to be seen to the right hand corner of the front panel. Browning and foxing to the verso. This is the first UK edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 184 pages..
