Top page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Original yellow wrappers bound in. Publisher's advertisement on back wrapper. Red, yellow, and green ribbon bookmark separated but present. At head of title: Ouvrage ayant obtenu le Prix Goncourt en 1905. Binder's stamp on front free endpaper verso: Vald. Rasmussen, Paris. Claude Farrère was the pseudonym of Frédéric-Charles Bargone (1876-1957), a prolific French author. Sixteen movies made from 1918 to 1936 were based on his works. In Near Fine- Condition: edges lightly rubbed; pages are browning as usual but clean and tight.
