London: Hamish Hamilton 1931. (Hardcover) 404pp. Very good in very good dust jacket. Black cloth with red titles on the spine and gilt decorations and title on the front cover. Top edge gilt, photographs, illustrations. The dust jacket has two minor chips to the back panel, is price-clipped on bothflaps and the covers are lightly splayed. "This is the most authoritative and complete history of Asiatic arts that has ever been written. The keynote of the entire book is development. Rene Grousset, of the Musee Guimet, traces clearly and skilfully the main lines of the evolution of Eastern art, showing exactly where and how the different tributaries, religious or national, came in to change its course".
