About This Item

Garden City NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc.. Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1975). Book Club Edition. Hardcover. [no discernible wear to book, a nice tight copy; jacket lightly soiling on rear panel, spine just a touch darkened]. This one-man play based on the life of the great (but also somewhat corrupt) crusading lawyer provided a meaty late-career stage role for its star, Henry Fonda (depicted in the rear-panel jacket photo). The original Broadway production, directed by John Houseman, ran for just a month in the spring of 1974, but thankfully somebody had the good sense to videotape it (it was shown on NBC that fall, and is still in circulation on DVD). The play was also adapted for a PBS "American Playhouse" telefilm in 1991 (as simply DARROW), starring Kevin Spacey. .
