Van Doesburg, Theo. CLASSIQUE - BAROQUE - MODERNE. Paris, 1921 (1st edition in French, after the Dutch edition of 1920). 8vo.wraps, 32pp. text plus 17 b/w illustrations of works by VanDoesburg and others. Inscribed and signed on the half-title by Nelly Van Doesburg. Some browning and a few spots of foxing, and with hand-lettered author and title on the spine. Provenance - Estate of Beatrice Levy. Van Doesburg (Netherlands, 1883-1931) was a Durch artist and critic who is best known as the founder of the art movement "De Stijl." Nelly Van Doesburg (1899-1975) was Theo's wife and collaborator. After his death she remained an important figure in the art world. Her close association with Peggy Guggenheim influenced Guggenheim's collecting and the exhibitions she mounted in her gallery.
