About This Item

London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington, 1882. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 2nd Edition.. Late C19th green leather over green-and-black marbled boards. Light scuffing, light foxing, very good. The Clients of Doctor Bernagius comprises four long stories, set in Mexico, where Biart was Professor of Botany for more than twenty years. This edition (a year after the English first) was issued in preparation for a second series of Biart's stories: "In Two Parts: Part One" appears on the title page, and Mrs Hoey's introduction ends: "a second series.will shortly be offered". This second part/second series was apparently never published..
