About This Item
Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1930. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good- Condition/Good+. Book An early twentieth century description of climates around the globe in what appears to be the first American edition (the first printing was in 1929 in the U.K.). There are a number of tables of data throughout for the various regions. From the introduction: "The tables are an important part of the book, and trouble has been taken to make them as complete and up-to-date as possible" (p. 13). Size: 8"-9" - Octavo (8vo). 199 pages. Item Type: Book. The text block remains bright, though the binding is broken between pages 96 and 97, exposing the webbing. There is underlining in pencil on pages 12, 14, 15, 17-20, but no other marks through the rest of the book. Hardbound in black cloth over boards with the title in bright gilt on the spine. Corners sharp with a slight bit of wear at the tips of the bottom corners. Only a little shelf wear at the head and foot of the spine. No foxing in this copy. The unclipped ($3.00) dust jacket has wear along the top edges with a 3/8" tear at the top of the front panel, a 1/2" tear and 3/8" x 1/4" chip at the head of the spine, a 1" closed tear at the top of the rear panel and shallow chips at the foots of the folds. The spine and folds are darkened from exposure. The spine has some spotting, with one spot extending into the margin of the lower part of the frotn panel. The dust jacket is now protected in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. Previous owner's signature in ink at the top of the front free end paper. The page edges are generally clean, with a couple of light spots on the top page edges, one area of foxing on the deckled side edges and some light foxing on the bottom edges. Quantity Available: 1.
