London: Edward Arnold & Co, 1950. Hardcover. Fine/very good -. x, 323 p., 4 leaves of color plates: in-text illustrations, tables; 22 cm. Red cloth with gilt spine title. Blue dust jacket printed in red. Publisher's advertisement on back section of dust jacket. Circular stamp of one of the authors, W. N. Mann. on front fixed endpaper and title page. Gift inscription on front free endpaper from Mann to Guy Lacy Schless (1929-2011), who was an endocrinologist for 55 years at Pennsylvania Hospital. William N. Mann (1911-2002) was the head of the Department of Medicine at Guy's Hospital, London, where Schless spent several summers doing research. Schless noted on the front free endpaper verso that Mann had given him the book in 1975 after Schless had completed rounds "with his firm." Schless also stamped his name and address on both fixed endpapers. Very scarce. Book is in Fine Condition: clean and tight. Dust jacket is in Very Good- Condition: spine is slightly sunned; minor chipping at ends of spine; clean and intact.
