Approximately 46 pages (numbered pp. [263]-306, plus advertising). 10 x 6.5 inches. Scarce. Includes several pages of local advertising. Journal for the Oregon and Washington State Federations of Women's Clubs. Contributions from: Abigail Scott Duniway, Rose Hoxie Hoyt (one of the founders of and first president of the Portland Rose Society), Lischen M. Miller (sister-in-law of Joaquin Miller), and the Governor of Oregon, George E. Chamberlain. Includes a memorial poem by Abigail Scott Duniway written for the first president of the Portland Women's Club (Jane Clarke Card). Internet searches have not produced any matches for this poem (the original manuscript appears to be at the Duniway archive at the University of Oregon). Includes articles on the Hill Military Academy; the establishment of the American Park and Outdoor Art Association (mentioning preparations for the upcoming Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition); the American Negro; the Life and Work of Booker T. Washington; Abigail Scott Duniway's poem "Hail and Fairwell (on the death of Mrs. J. C. [Jane Clarke] Card, first president of the Portland Women's Club, a director of the Baby Home, president of the floral division of the Oregon Horticulture Society, and an organizing member of the Oregon State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution); the Portland Baby Home (which much later became the Waverley Children's home); detailed happenings within the various local women's clubs in both Oregon and Washington; and more.
