The book is beautifully illustrated with many old and current photographs (of the same locations) , the reader can trace the railroad and canal routes by car, or in his imagination, and find every surviving struture from Carbondale, Pennsylvania, to Kingston on the Hudson. Structures no longer extant are shown on maps or in old photos. In addition, the author includes many of his own fine drawings.
