About This Item

New York, NY Grove Press, 1962. Hardcover Taiwanese Reprint of the First Printing of the Grove Press Edition of 1962. Very Good in a Fair to middlin' DJ: shows mild shelving wear to the lower extremities, a single page has been creased at the upper corner; a former chinese owner's stamp at the title page; sun-blanching to the top and bottom edges of the panels and backstrip (the titles are unaffected: bold and clearly legible); the expected tanning to the text pages of such reprint productions; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels except perhaps for the red chinese character stamp. A clean sturdy copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and several minor cosmetic imperfections. The DJ shows some loss to chipping mainly at the top edge of the rear panel and several small chips and short tears; aa longer tear and an attendant crease at the top edge of the front panel; moderate rubbing to the panels; free of sunning; unclipped. Serviceable, but does not enhance the attractiveness of the book. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (7.65 x 5.35 x 0.5 inches). 122 pages. Translated by Burton Watson. Photographic Portrait from a Chinese painting of Han-Shan forms the frontispiece. Taiwanese Reprint of the First Printing of the Grove Press Edition of 1962. Green cloth over boards with silver titles at the backstrip. The DJ background field is green and black with white and black titles. Hardback with DJ.
