About This Item

Fort Mojave, Arizona: Ersonic, 2002. "Cold Warriors" is Erosonic's 7th album. In keeping with the theme of the first six, it continues the legacy of the American fighting man and woman. Beginning at WWII, the songs detail the bravery and sacrifice, and fun of America's warriors in the Cold War. Often it was anything but cold. With the loss of many tens of thousands of lives in Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and other "mini" wars fought during the timeframe, "cold" was absolutely the wrong word. Defending America in the Cold War, as in other times, took us all over the world. We worked and trained and flew with people who shall remain close to us for the rest of our lives. In some instances we brought them back home as family members. It was fun, but sometimes the flying and the training scared the living hell out of us. Thank God, the Cold War is over; but, today's world is no less deadly than it was then. Major Irv Le Vine flew the F-105 Thunderchief in the Vietnam war. He was assigned to the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. Ninety-nine of his missions were over North Vietnam, and 44 of those were in Route Pack VI in the Hanoi area. One of the elite 40% minority of Thud pilots who actually completed 100 missions, he flew his hundredth on his birthday in 1968. He returned to the States and flew the F-111 Aardvark until retiring from the Air Force in 1972. After that, he attended Texas A& M and became a veterinarian; he runs his own clinic in Mountain Home, Idaho. Irv is a licensed parachute rigger and a skydiver with 212 jumps; he is a graduate of the Army's Airborne Jump School at Ft Benning, Georgia. He is a scuba diver, a dog trainer, and a singer and writer of songs. Irv’s decorations include the Silver Star, 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 16 Air Medals. Dick Jonas flew 125 air combat missions in the Vietnam War. An F-4 Phantom II jet fighter pilot, he was assigned to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing Wolfpack at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, from September of 1967 to May of 1968. For his acts in the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Air Medal 13 times and the Distinguished Flying Cross three times. After 22 years service, he retired from the United States Air Force in 1986 as a Command Pilot, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is a teacher, a writer, a guitar-player, and a singer. He also flies. CD has a few tiny fine scratches-does not affect the function or quality of the recordings. Crystal case has some light scratches. Includes original CD, case, and artwork insert.
