Boards rubbed, English title rather paled, edges worn. Both fly-leaves creased.
Not in Manfred Heiting and Kaneko Ryuichi. The Japanese Photobook, 1912-1980. A remarkable and very rare photographic publication by a Japanese traveller to Europe, with street photography of cities and towns in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France and England with remarkable and highly unusual photographs shot by him in all these places, far from being a collection of the usual tourist highlights, some of which are of course included, but even they represent a particular look and unusual image detail. An astonishing photographic documentation of European everyday city life and of street scenes in the metropolises of the countries visited (Berlin, Zurich, Venice, Paris, London) but also including smaller cities by a curious and exceptional Japanese photographer which is quite outstanding for the period especially in this formal and aesthetic refinement. 35 photographs are of German cities including Berlin, Leipzig, Heidelberg, and Frankfurt. Title and four further leaves creased, with a small pale waterstain in lower margin of leaves, a bit of foxing here and there throughout.
