Hard cover, 8vo., in green publisher's cloth blocked in gold, top edge gilt, xxiv, 368pp., with plates, facsimiles and diagrams. **CONDITION: Near Fine. Some very minor rubbing at front joint, and at head and foot of the spine. Lacking slipcase and d/j.** A definitive work on the early American printing trade. One of 1500 copies printed on heavy paper. Author's Presentation copy, with fountain pen inscription in fountain pen dated 1938 to someone associated with the Grolier Club.**AUTHOR Lawrence C. Wroth (1884 - 1970) was an American historian famous for this book, and for "A History of Printing in Colonial Maryland: 1686-1776" (1922). He was associated with Brown University's John Carter Brown Library, whose collections include the best preserved copy of the Bay Psalm Book, the first book printed in North America, and an important collection of Mexican works printed before 1600.
