Hellmuth Weissenborn (1898-1982) was a German painter engraver and co-founder of Acorn Press, which he built with his second wife. Weissenborn was exiled from Germany in the November pogram of 1938, arriving in London in 1939. Exiles were seen as "enemy aliens", leading Weissenborn to be interned for six months, where he became known as a "friendly alien". Following release in the 1940's, Weissenborn worked as an illustrator and freelance artist.
