Viking, 1968. First Edition. Unknown. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. RARE EARLIEST PRINTING. 28 pages. Advance printed excerpt of the title novel, posthumously edited by her (widower) husband; issued by the publishers of the complete work (which included 'part of a novel, sixteen stories, and three lectures' (upper wrapper)) apparently as promotional material. Scarce. Slight wear to spine (rubbing); slight rubbing to wrappers; slight internal browning to edges.
Synopsis
Shirley Jackson (1919–1965), a celebrated writer of horror, wrote many stories as well as six novels and two works of nonfiction.
