Probable first American edition, blue cloth, lettered in gold on spine, former owner's name stamped on front flyleaf but otherwise in excellent condition. DJ shows original price. Interior pages clean and DJ illustration bright with minor shelfwear. Charming 1870s gentlemen ghosts and their monkey help 1950s relative win the girl in Paris. They like Paris...as does the monkey. Sequel to Brief Candles and Happy Returns. This is the original American hardcover, difficult to find, and not the Rue Morgue later reprint.
Synopsis
The two ghosts from *Brief Candles* and *Happy Returns* return once more to help out a young relative who is accidentally caught up in burglary and murder. As always, Ulysses the pet monkey is up to mischief along the way.
