About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. The Coming of Bill is a literary work first printed as Their Mutual Child in the United States by Boni & Liveright, New York, and as The Coming of Bill in the United Kingdom by Herbert Jenkins Ltd, London. The Coming of Bill was first seen in Munsey's Magazine entitled as The White Hope.

The story is about Kirk Winfield, his wife Ruth, and their little son, Bill. Bill's childhood is hindered with by Ruth's meddler aunt, Mrs. Lora Delane Porter, who is a writer of books aimed to hearten the thoughts of everyone.

Wodehouse was usually known for his witty novels, but this one is an exception.

This was also made into a silent motion picture rendition entitled Their Mutual Child in 1920.

Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse KBE was a British novelist and was among the best known satirists of the 20th century. His first books were commonly of tales about school children and their activities, then he transitioned to comical works of fiction, making countless unvarying oddballs who were known to the people for all time. They consist of the happy-go-lucky nobleman of holiday Bertie Wooster and his guru valet, Jeeves; the faultless and verbose Psmith; Lord Emsworth and the Blandings Castleset; the Oldest Member, with tales telling about golf; and Mr Mulliner, with long stories on topics varying from drunken ministers to narcissistic film tycoons.

However much of his works are situated in England, he stayed mostly in the United States and utilized New York and Hollywood as backdrops for many of his novellas and short fiction. Throughout and after the siege of WWI, along with Guy Bolton and Jerome Kern, he made several Broadway musical comedies that were a vital part of the progression of the American musical.
