New York: Duell, Sloan & Pearce, 1943. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. vi, 448, pp. Includes index. Written between July 1942 and Easter, 1943. The Western allies were just beginning to turn the tide of the war, and Borgese was exploring the shape of a post war world. An anti-Fascist, Borgese had emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1931. After the war, he taught at the University of Chicago, where he continued to work on the problem of world governance. As Secretary of the Committee to Frame a World Constitution, he was the chief author of its Chicago draft in 1947.
