New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1929. Hardcover. Fine. Number 247 of the first 500 numbered copies of the first printing of The Compact Edition signed by John Galsworthy. An English novelist and playwright, Galsworthy (1867-1933) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1932. Octavo, six volumes. Original pebbled green cloth bindings, with decorative gilt stamping. A fine set in the original green cloth dust jackets, lacking the wooden stand.
