About This Item

The book Comparative World Atlas is also known as The Ultimate Atlas, Volume 1, prepared for Newsweek. It was never used and is in vintage new condition.

The maps in this atlas were prepared utilizing several different methods, including: conventional manual cartography; Hammond's Terrasculpture physical model mapping technique developed by Ernst Hofmann; and Hammond's advanced computer mapping system. Most of the world thematic maps in this collection use the Eckert equal-area projection to depict subjects of comparative interest. This projection provides a clear and accurate picture of the appropriate spatial relationship.
