About This Item

London: Richard Edwards (Oakland: Octavo), 1797; 2004. 1st edition. Other Binding. New/No Jacket (as issued). Digital facsimile (in electronic PDF format on CD-ROM disc) of two hand-colored copies of Blake's celebrated edition of Young's Night Thoughts. Copies J and B from the Lessing J. Rosenwald collection at the U. S. Library of Congress present examples of the two different styles in which this work was colored by the artist and associates. Includes images of both copies in full at unprecedented resolution (may be magnified at up to 300% of original size), a full searchable transcription of the text, an introductory commentary by Nicolas Barker, bibliographical and provenance information, and a special comparison feature that allows side-by-side viewing of the engravings in each copy. "Blake fans will appreciate that the disc contains almost as many extras as there are on a movie DVD: an enlightening introduction by Nicolas Barker, a side-by-side comparison of the illustrations, a searchable transcription of the text."--Library Journal

Philip Smith, Bookseller

Payment in full by Visa/MC, cash, check, money order, or Amex/Discover (processed by Biblio) with order. Books can be held up to 10 days upon request; email is the preferred (and quickest) means of communication. Postage is extra: orders through Biblio are charged at their prevailing rates; otherwise, postage cost will be quoted upon request (optional insurance is extra at cost). All items are graded conservatively using consistent standards: generally speaking, 'Fine' is the best condition class, followed by 'Very Good', 'Good', 'Fair', and 'Poor' (these can be considered as analogous to letter grades A, B, C, D, F: the latter two classes are rarely offered). Please inquire if you have any questions about the condition of an item listed. Any purchase may be returned for refund if deemed unsatisfactory upon receipt. I will be glad to ship with invoice to academic institutions in advance of payment if a purchase order is provided. Dealers may inquire for reciprocal trade discount.
