(1st US, Review copy with slip) Large, thick, heavy book, brown cloth spine, smooth light green boards with very bright tiny gilt initials at top front, tiny brown spot at bottom front edge, bright gilt lettering on spine, 1220 pages plus biographical note. DJ heavy paper, gray background, darker gray within blue borders at center front, praise on back from Frank Kermode, Paul Theroux and others. DJ has very slight soiling overall, tiny tear with very slight wear at bottom front tip, light brown tiny spot at bottom front edge, 3/4" tear with crease and light wear at top front left edge, two very tiny nicks at spine bottom edge and bottom back edge, tiny tear at top back tip. Fair DJ/Fine book.
