[London:] Printed for Private Circulation Only, 1883-85, 1883. First collected edition, one of 50 copies only. NCBEL I, 1457. Edges slightly rubbed; very good copy.. 6 vols, 8vo, red half morocco by Strikeman for Charles Scribners' Sons, red cloth sides, gilt decorated and lettered spines, t.e.g., others untrimmed. Vignettes and ornamental initials. The first comprehensive collection of the works of Thomas Nashe (bap.1567- c1601), the colorful playwright, poet, satirist, novelist and pamphleteer, who was at the center of the Elizabethan literary scene and many of its controversies and quarrels. This edition, arranged chronologically by date of publication, was privately printed for the Huth Library, founded by bibliophile Henry Huth (1815-78) and continued by his son Alfred Henry Huth (1850-1910). On the front free endpaper of volume one is the small ownership stamp of James Laughlin IV, founder of New Directions.
