About This Item
New York: The Modern Library, 1935 First Modern Library Edition. A Modern Library Giant, G 24. All the essays, dramas, poetry and translations written by Lamb, as well as 467 letters, arranged chronologically and annotated with explanatory notes, along with a complete index. Blue cloth binding is lightly-to-moderately sunned along top edges of boards mid-portion of rear board, and spine, with spine showing the most fading. Cloth at head of spine--about 1/4 inch-- is very faded, creased, and with 1/4 inch closed tear. Upper corner of front blank endpaper clipped; part of top margin of half-title page is neatly cut away, probably to excise prior owner name. Careless diagonal crease to "Index to Letters" page 1105 and subsequent tiny crease/darkening to lower corner of that page. Interior otherwise clean, tight, and unworn. Front panel of dust jacket is bright and clean. Jacket is intact but overall is moderately worn with small chips to upper front panel and head of spine, short closed tears to lower rear panel, three small snag-tear holes in spine, darkened spine, and black ink smudges to rear panel.
