Collins, London, 1961. Reprint. Hardcover. Good Condition/Slipcased. Illustrator: Eric Fraser. Illustrated end pages being a floral motif. Acknowledgements, editor's introduction, preliminary matter to the first folio (1623) and list of illustrations. The text is illustrated with 16 coloured drawings by Eric Fraser. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles and illustration to the back strip. There is a navy blue coloured place marker with frayed and. Gilt to the top text edge. Red coloured slip case. The introduction summarises what is known of Shakespeare's life, sketches his development as a dramatist, and describes the origins of our text of the plays in the 1st Folio, and the early "good" and "bad" Quartos.  Front fold over blurb of the 1974 edition dust wrapper. A little bumping of the book corners and softening of the back strip edges. Sunning to the back strip and the front panel has some stains. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. The slip case is somewhat battered  please see photograph. Bumping and Chipping of the corners of the front with very noticeable rubbing  underlying board is visible to some parts of the edge. Fading of the front edges with chipping and bumping of the back strip. Rubbing of the slip case panels with stains also present. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. XXXII, 1376 pages, in original hardcover binding, with photographic colour illustrated dustjacket. Very slight rubbing to the top and bottom edges of the dustjacket. Age toning of the pages. No other damage to describe. The rear panel of the dustjacket features a illustration of Helen Mirren as Rosalind.. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Eric Fraser.
