Important treatise of this comprehensive work on sundials by the Italian astronomer and mathematical practitioner of Verona who designed and built his own instruments for sale. Giovanni Padovani (b. 1512) manual is expanded from the first edition of 1570. His work treats calendric manipulation, calculation of time and computus, sphaera recta with associated astrological concepts, sexagesimal calculation, planetary theory, and use of the astrolabe to aid in calculation, including extensive tables of declinations for various latitudes with both occidental and oriental example.
