Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1807 Original 1807 printing with 109 Lithographic Plates, VG-, slight foxing here and there. Oblong 4to, (18" x 12") 3/4 leather with five raised bands and decorated compartments, titles in gilt. Plates in 3 untitled (Hell, Purgatory & Paradise assumed) sections, 1-38, 1-38, 1-33 for a total of 109 captioned plates. Light to moderate wear, a bit of old moisture staining and foxing though none into image areas confined to edge margins. Quite nice frameable plates.

Description:
First edition; presumed first printing. From the next to the bottom line of the title page, "Engraved by Thomas Piroli, From the Drawings in Pofsefssion [sic] of Thomas Hope, Esq. 1793" The last line lists the publisher/ printer and the date of printing as May 1, 1807. Pages are not numbered. We counted approximately 115 pages containing individual engravings. There is noticeable foxing on the first three pages and last four pages (including first and last fly leaf pages).. Remaining pages are clear or with light faxing. However the images on all these pages seem predominately clear of foxing. Pages are clear, without tears or marks. Plates are in very good condition over all. Both covers have been separated from the binding/ also first three pages and last four, each section bound together, have separated from the binding (separated as two separated sections).
