Hodder & Stoughton Ltd, London, 1947, 1st Edition, hardback with dust wrapper, GD/gd, boards blue/gilt, pale green end papers with colour frontispiece by Leslie Stead in addition to six two tone double page plates, 227 pp.
Boards edge worn, spine strip and edges sunned, 0.5cm and 1.5cm splits to spine head, neat inscription to front free end paper, no annotations, binding sound, pages clean, lightly tanned, small areas of foxing to edges of text block, flap shadows to end papers. Appreciable shelf wear to wrapper (see scans) with evidence of previous repairs, price not clipped, now protected by paper/film book jacket cover. Good readable copy.
