About This Item

Correspondence between the Secretaries of War and the Treasury, on the Subject of a Deficiency of Funds, Confederate States of America, War Department, Richmond, Va, December 29, 1864.

Single folded 9.5 x 12 inch sheet; light toning, starting to split at fold. Very faint rubber stamp, "Record Division, War Department, Rebel Archives." Parrish & Willingham 2315.

War Secretary James Seddon castigates Treasury Secretary George Trenholm for currency policies that contribute to poor military morale and desertion. Trenholm's response is rather lame.
